About James
James Urdang is a Motivational Speaker, Humanitarian, Social Entrepreneur and International Award Winner. As CEO & Founder of Education Africa, he has dedicated more than 3 decades of his life to a cause that is very close to his heart – helping to bring about real, positive and meaningful change to the lives of disadvantaged Africans.
James was mentored by the late Walter Sisulu and was honoured to have been asked to speak at the funeral of the late Chris Hani. James was the first person in the non-profit sector to lead President Nelson Mandela and had the honour of presenting him the Golden Doves of Peace Award. He worked and interacted with Nelson Mandela on a number of projects and has worked with a number of leaders and influential people over the years. Recently, he presented the Nelson Mandela Foundation with the James Urdang & Education Africa Collection of memorabilia, photographs and original video footage, and is honoured that his and Education Africa’s story is being recorded as part of Nelson Mandela’s life.
The past three decades have seen James navigate a number of exciting journeys and face some seemingly insurmountable obstacles as he strives to help people break the cycle of poverty through quality, innovative educational programmes. As a motivational speaker, he is able to speak from the heart on topics such as:
A Lesson in Resilience
Social Justice Through Education
Leadership in a Crisis
Turning Chaos into Opportunities
Navigating Change
Those who work with James are extremely motivated by his will to succeed and his willingness to make personal sacrifices to do just that, for the betterment of others. He is proudly South African, proudly African and strongly believes that it’s Africa’s time.
